THE BRAINCHILD OF YAKOV FRIEDMAN AND THE RABBAYEV OKUNEVS

It has been over 50 years since the Lubavitcher Rebbe proposed, and with God's help, oh miracle, the Minors are lit in the streets and squares. The Russian-speaking Jewish community living on West 5 and Brighton is pleased to welcome the organizers of the ceremonial lighting of the Chanukiah, Rabbai 1'ersh Okunev and his nephew Rabbai David Okunev. The Okunev family of religious leaders does a lot of good to ensure that Jewish life continues on West 5. Ari Kagan, a worthy politician, spoke and congratulated everyone present on the holiday.
More than 40 years ago we started lighting the Minorah on Brighton, and our nine-meter beauty Minorah - a symbol of the Victory of Light over darkness - is already more than 25 years old. This is the only non-detachable, permanently installed Minorah in the USA, near the Chase Bank it was made by the talented architect Jacob Friedman. And yesterday another creation of Jacob Friedman appeared - the second Chanukiah on 4 Brighton, near the Western Wall.
He is an immigrant from Odessa, a Holocaust survivor. For over 25 years, he has been volunteering to equip synagogues with technical equipment. For example, he made the largest Sukkah for the Sukkot holiday in the synagogue, without a single nail. He also writes beautiful poetry. Yes, the Jewish people give birth to such talented people!
During the lighting of Minora, dozens of Jews and non-Jews with their children and grandchildren have been coming to Minora for many years to hear music and try doughnuts. It is worth noting that the Rabbai are treated with great respect in the area. They can support in difficult times, rejoice in successes, are happy when they get married, get married, and have children.
The holiday of light and fires has arrived, designed to give a miracle and warm the hearts of believers. The day when hundreds of candles are lit and the Jewish people pay tribute to the events that happened many centuries ago. In the evenings, the lights lit on many windowsills in New York remind us: no matter how dark and scary it is around, there will always be that one treasured jug, a clean vessel with oil. And a miracle will happen and bring warmth and kindness to the world.
Let the holiday of light and goodness bring light, love and warmth into your hearts.
